Questions & answers

The questions homeowners actually ask.

The questions homeowners actually ask us before a building project, in the order they tend to ask them — from "is this a job for you?" through to "what happens once you've finished?"

Stage

Before you decide

What kind of building work do you take on?

House extensions (single and multi-storey), loft and dormer conversions, whole-property renovations, kitchen refits, patios and driveways, garage and outbuilding conversions, and general building and maintenance. In short, the larger building projects — plus the wider work a home needs — across Sevenoaks and West Kent.

We've never managed a project this big before — is that a problem?

Not at all. A big part of what we do is take the coordination off your hands — you deal with Adrian and one team from the first site visit to the final handover, rather than lining up separate contractors yourself. As our reviews describe, the work is completed in time and to a high finish, with people simply happy with the result.

Who will actually be running the job?

Adrian Bunton runs every project himself — the site visit, the advice, the quote and the build. A. Bunton Building Contractors is a family company registered at Companies House, so you're dealing with an established, accountable local firm.

Getting a quote

Do you charge for a visit or a quote?

No. Adrian will come out, look at the job properly and talk it through, and there's no charge for that visit or for the written quote that follows. There's no obligation to go ahead.

How does the quote work for a bigger project?

For an extension, conversion or renovation we set out the scope and the cost in writing before anything is agreed, so you know exactly what you're signing up to. If the project needs drawings, structural details or building-regulation approvals, we'll talk you through what's involved.

Stage

During the build

How much disruption should we expect?

A build is never invisible, but it needn't take over the house. We sequence the work sensibly, protect what we're working around, and keep the site clean and tidy as we go. Many extensions and renovations are carried out while the family is still living there, so keeping the disruption contained is part of the job.

How do you keep a project on programme?

Because one firm coordinates all the trades, the job runs in the right order rather than stalling while separate contractors wait on each other. It's why our reviews say the work is "completed in time" — the programme is agreed up front and managed by us throughout.

Areas & afterwards

Which areas do you cover?

Sevenoaks and the surrounding West Kent villages — Riverhead, Otford, Kemsing, Seal, Chipstead, Dunton Green, Weald and Halstead among them. We keep to a comfortable radius so Adrian can look after each project properly. If you're nearby, just ask.

Can you take on the next phase or project later?

Yes — plenty of clients come back for the next room, the next phase or a separate project once they've worked with us. It's usually worth talking through a phased plan up front so the work is sequenced sensibly.

Still have a question?

Ask Adrian directly — there's no charge for a chat or a quote.
